Implantable Contact lenses are one of the most exciting new breakthroughs in the field of enhanced vision care.
With the Visian Implantable Contact Lens, you can achieve high definition vision without many of the risks associated with LASIK. Rather than changing the shape of the cornea as in LASIK eye surgery, implantable lenses are placed inside the eye to enhance the focusing abilities of the eye’s natural lens providing excellent quality of vision for a wide range of vision correction. Should your prescription change, the lens is replaceable to maintain your vision for years to come.
Our Team of ICL Expert Surgeons have been performing ICL procedures since 1997. Just see for yourself what our patients have to say about their ICL experience:
“I am over the moon with the results from my implantable contact lenses (on my complicated eyes). I now have better than 20/20 vision. I was so upset when told two years ago that I was unsuitable for Laser Eye Surgery. My only regret is not finding out about Viewpoint Vision sooner. Viewpoint Vision were unbelievable helpful before, during and after the operation. They worked around my flights to and from Dublin, and arranged a taxi service when required. The service provided was over and above what I was expecting. I will be recommending them to all my friends and family who are interested in eye surgery.”Ms Ruth B from Dublin, Ireland
“Fantastic! Had apprehension about op being completely successful. Nothing to worry about. Everyone was friendly, caring and professional. Do not need glasses at all. Thank you to everyone involved.” Wendy H from Bolton had ICL(TM) surgery
I would like to thank Mr Chitkara and his team for making my ICL procedure a success. I am an electrical engineer and have to read schematic drawings and use many HMI screens so glasses weren’t really an option for me.
The procedure was totally painless with no needles and carried out in a relaxing and stress free manor. From parking the car to leaving the hospital after the operation was only three and half hours approximately. The procedure restored both my near and far sight.
If anyone wants to know more information about my experience I would be happy for them to contact me by telephone.” Terry C from Liverpool had ICL surgery – October 2011
What is the Visian ICL(TM)
The Visian ICL(TM) is a special contact lens that is implanted inside the eye and works with the eye’s natural lens to produce sharp, clear vision. Crafted from Collamer®, an advanced biocompatible material, the Visian ICL(TM) Implantable Contact Lens once inside the eye is completely safe and long lasting.
Visian ICL(TM) Candidates
The Visian Implantable Contact Lens is intended for use by patients between the ages of 21 and 45 who are nearsighted and have no previous history of ophthalmic disease such as iritis, glaucoma, or diabetic retinopathy. Among patients who fit into the above demographic, the Visian ICL(TM) is also an excellent option for those who do not meet the eligibility requirements for LASIK. For example, patients with extremely thin corneas or those predisposed to dry eye syndrome might have less than optimal results from LASIK. However, the Visian ICL(TM) requires no change to the cornea and does not contribute to such conditions as dry eye, making it an excellent choice for these patients. The only way to determine if you are a candidate for the Implantable Contact Lens from Visian is to have a thorough ophthalmic exam by a doctor familiar with the Visian ICL(TM).
The Visian ICL(TM) Procedure
The quick and easy outpatient procedure can be performed in 10 to 15 minutes, and results in immediate improvement to your vision.
During the surgery, your eye will be numbed with a local anesthetic eye drops. There is very little discomfort associated with the procedure. A tiny opening is made into eye and the insertable lens is simply slid into the eye in front of the crystalline lens and stays in place permanently. Some drops or perhaps oral medication may be prescribed and a post-operative visit will be scheduled.
Advantages of the Visian ICL(TM)
More and more of the patients who come to Viewpoint Vision choose the Visian ICL(TM) because of its clear advantages over glasses, contacts, and, in some cases, LASIK and PRK. The Visian Implantable Contact Lens is completely removable and replaceable. If your prescription changes dramatically in the years following the implantation procedure, the lenses can be removed easily with no ill effects. Most patients who receive the Visian ICL(TM), however, never need to have any maintenance on the lenses at all. Because Implantable Corrective Lenses do not disturb or change the corneal surface at all, side effects sometimes seen with LASIK such as halos, glare, and corneal flap complications are eliminated. Possibly the biggest advantage of the Visian ICL(TM) is that more patients than ever before are able to undergo surgical vision correction. People, who cannot undergo LASIK, such as those with thin corneas, chronically dry eyes, or extreme refractive error, can enjoy the benefits of the Visian ICL(TM).
