What is Presbyopia ?
Presbyopia is a naturally occurring process that comes with aging and affects millions of people every day. The onset of presbyopia is noticeable when you need to hold books menus and other prints at arms length to read them. The first signs of presbyopia are usually noticed between the ages of 40-50 years
What is Raindrop?
‘Lifetime of youthful perspective’
The crystal clear inlay is completely invisible to you and others. It is about the size of a pinhead and less than half the thickness of human hair. Raindrop is made of a soft, biocompatible material called hydrogel, which has similar properties and water content as the cornea.
Raindrop works by gently changing the central curvature of the eye allowing you to see objects up close as well as intermediate and far objects.
Raindrop is designed to be permanent yet flexible – if for any reason you are not satisfied with your new vision, Raindrop can be easily removed.
The Raindrop Procedure
Raindrop procedure is done as an outpatient under local eye drop anaesthetic. A thin corneal flap of cornea is first created with a laser and the raindrop is gently placed beneath the surface within the cornea. Typically the procedure takes less than 10 minutes and is completely painless. Vision improves almost immediately but continues to improve over the next few weeks and months after treatment. Patients generally return to work the next day.
Raindrop procedure can also be combined with LASIK Laser Surgery to correct your distance vision. Ask your doctor to explain the advantages of Raindrop in combination with your LASIK procedure.
